Het gaat niet zo goed met Nintendo, en in het bijzonder de Wii U. Gisteren maakte de Japanse gigant al bekend dat onder andere president Satoru Iwata en enkele andere grootverdieners een deel van hun salaris gaan inleveren vanwege de slechte prestaties. Hoewel sommigen denken dat een prijsdaling voor de Wii U de enige optie is om de console nog tot een succes te maken, ziet Iwata dat heel anders.
Tijdens een gesprek met investeerders en analisten lichtte Iwata het plan van Nintendo toe om de weg omhoog weer in te slaan. Men wil liever meer focussen op het meest onderscheidende aspect van de console, de Wii U GamePad:

We have managed to offer several of such software titles for occasions when many people gather in one place to play, but we have not been able to offer a decisive software title that enriches the user’s gameplay experience when playing alone with the GamePad. This will be one of the top priorities of Mr. Miyamoto’s software development department this year.
