Kojima Productions, de ontwikkelstudio van Metal Gear-bedenker Hideo Kojima, is opgedoekt. Dat beweert Otsuka Akio, de stemacteur die de Japanse Snake van een stem voorziet.
Via Twitter liet Akio weten dat Kojima Productions niet langer bestaat. Tegelijkertijd benadrukt hij dat de studio bijna klaar is met de ontwikkeling van The Phantom Pain. Akio’s Tweet laat zich als volgt vertalen:
[Kojima Productions] has been disbanded. It appears that the work that the team has been putting their utmost effort into is nearly complete.Akio meldt tevens dat hij hoge verwachtingen heeft van The Phantom Pain. De man is ervan overtuigd dat dit het beste spel wordt dat Kojima Productions ooit heeft gemaakt:
